The Toronto International Film Festival plans to create an interactive exploration of director David Cronenberg and his work in venereal horror next year.
The Canadian nonprofit cultural organization posted a job opening for a project manager for the David Cronenberg Augment Reality Game last week.
The game, Body/Mind/Change, will be housed in the Tiff Bell Lightbox & Festival Tower in Toronto, according to the job listing. Work on the project, described by TIFF as “part of a new era in Toronto’s cultural history, kicks off this month with plans to open the interactive exhibit in 2013.
The game is a byproduct of the TIFF Gaming & New Media Think Tank,a “brainstorming and action group” that includes a number of high-profile industry names including Ubisoft’s Jade Raymond and former IGDA head Jason Della Rocca.
Cronenberg, a Canadian director, actor and screenwriter, helped create the venereal horror, or body horror genre, which explores a person’s fear of mutilation and destruction of the physical form. His films include a remake of The Fly, Scanners and Videodrome. Cosmopolis, based on a novel of the same name, is due out later this year.
If you’re interested, you should probably hit up TIFF. It looks like they haven’t filled the position yet.
