Minecraft: Pocket Edition Update Hits Early Feb.
Minecraft: Pocket Edition’s slow evolution toward a game more akin to the Survival Mode of the original Minecraft starts next month with a new update.
Mojang’s Daniel Kaplan writes that the team plans to submit a new update for the Android and iOS version of their popular PC game on Feb. 8. The free update will hit once approved.
While the update won’t turn the creative-only version of Minecraft into a monster-laden survival mode version, it will take steps in that direction.
Kaplan says that the update will include a lot of background changes as well as some new animals and blocks. Crafting won’t be included in this update, because adding it to the Pocket Edition will require a bit more work on the user interface, Kaplan says.
